Precision Measurement Engineers & Custom Integration Partners

Built for the problems that shouldn't exist.
"Automadex" is a combination of two words: Automation and Index.
In the engineering world, an index is the ultimate baseline. It is the definitive source of truth and the standard by which performance is measured. We built Automadex (aw-toe-MAY-dex) because we saw a gap in the industry: manufacturers and integrators were deploying millions of dollars in hardware, but often lacked the highly specialized engineering blueprint to make it work in a complex environment.
We don't believe in guesswork, and we don't believe in settling for "acceptable" failure rates. Automadex exists to be the definitive standard in custom industrial automation - the benchmark for how measurement science, custom software, and legacy systems are engineered to achieve 100% technical certainty.
Engineers fueled by a
passion for the difficult
We are the specialized engineers you call when a project hits a wall. With over 40 years of combined experience in manufacturing, engineering, and solutions development, we have the skill to engineer the exact solution you need.
We know the story well: a demo looked perfect, but now that it's on your floor, there is a clear disconnect between the defined problem and the desired outcome. We've been in your shoes. Because we understand this frustration firsthand, we are an organization that simply "gets it."
We are a firm less concerned with immediate project value, and more concerned with building a long-term partnership. We believe going back to the basics of problem-solving is the only way to achieve real results. That is why every engagement with our team starts with the most important question any engineer can ask:
What is the biggest problem plaguing the operation today?
Bridging the gap between measurement science and industrial reality
We're not here to sell you hardware; we're here to deliver a definitive solution. We fix stalled automation, optimize failed integrations, and retrofit Brownfield legacy equipment to extract both the data and value you need.
From multi-instrument measurement systems to full-stack digital controls, we step into the chaos of the plant floor to re-engineer the logic. If your current system doesn't work, we'll make it right by bridging the gap to take you from "it should work" to "it does work."
Leadership Team
Jason Kovacik
Co-Founder, In Memoriam
Automadex was born from a shared dream, and Jason was the driving heartbeat behind it. With a degree in psychology and over fifteen years of strategic industrial sales leadership, Jason did not look at manufacturing lines through blueprints alone. He looked at them through the eyes of the people running them. He believed true leadership meant empowering the team around him and surrounding himself with innovators who had the confidence to challenge assumptions and ask a simple question: "Why not?".
His approach to solving complex engineering problems was always anchored in servant leadership. He operated under a fundamental rule that defined his entire career: if you do what is in the best interest of your customer, everything else will follow. He spent years working in the industrial sensor and engineered solutions space, specializing in custom measurement, testing, and inspection systems. Through that experience, he developed a deep respect for the daily challenges plant teams face and committed himself to solving them.
Jason cared deeply about helping manufacturers eliminate the cost and loss centers on their floors. He used to tell people plainly that waste is paid from profit, not revenue. To solve it, he championed the data-driven DMAIC framework, viewing it not just as a corporate tool, but as an essential process for continuous growth and personal improvement. For Jason, business was entirely about developing lasting, meaningful relationships and ensuring everyone had the chance to win every day.
In early February 2026, we unexpectedly lost Jason before he could see this business and fully realize what it was meant to become. It was a heavy blow, but the foundation he laid remains unshakable. We carry on his vision in his honor.
Jason always said that he did not show up to work focused on a financial goal. He showed up to have a positive impact on others and to give every ounce of effort he had. Automadex continues to bring that exact passion, straight-shooting honesty, and commitment to service into every plant floor we step onto. Every time we help a company large or small solve a bottleneck annoyance, we are fulfilling the dream Jason set in motion. His legacy is forever woven into the fabric of this company.
Brian Page
Engineering Lead
Brian Page brings a remarkably diverse engineering skillset that spans process, product, system, quality, manufacturing, and software engineering. Holding a B.S. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, Brian combines deeply grounded engineering methodologies with emerging technologies to build robust, multi-layered industrial systems. His rare command over both the physical plant floor and complex data architecture allows Automadex to deliver objective, straight-shooting technical solutions where legacy systems often fail.
Throughout a career serving as a senior engineer, consultant, and engineering director, Brian has built a reputation for solving what others label "impossible" engineering and measurement challenges. His hands-on execution ranges from designing client-specific manufacturing measurement systems using advanced 2D/3D laser scanning and AI, to authoring full-scale Management Operating Systems, relational SQL databases, and ASP.NET web applications. By engineering both the hardware integrations and the underlying code from scratch, he provides the granular, real-time data visibility required to isolate and destroy complex process bottlenecks.
A patent-holding inventor and Lean Six-Sigma Green Belt, Brian relies on rigorous, data-driven frameworks like the DMAIC methodology to systematically root out operational variance and stabilize continuous improvement initiatives. His background includes leading international technology exchanges and restructuring underperforming industrial assets for maximum yield. As Engineering Lead at Automadex, Brian brings unmatched technical precision to our clients, turning chaotic plant environments into predictable, highly optimized operations.
Mike Spier
Co-Founder
My understanding of how businesses run didn't start in a boardroom. It started in the passenger seat of a tractor-trailer.
Growing up in the Northeast, my dad ran a one-truck operation hauling lumber. I spent my summers in the cab right alongside him, falling in love with the grit and pacing of the hardwood lumber mills we visited. I eventually earned my master's degree to understand the principles of business, but the real learning happened by doing the work. I gravitated straight back to the production floor to see how things are made with my own eyes.
That hands-on approach shaped the next two decades of my career, including over 11 years selling industrial moisture sensors across hundreds of manufacturing applications. Working with those teams exposed a frustrating cycle. At trade shows, plant managers and engineers searched for genuine solutions to their toughest bottlenecks. Instead, they met the same legacy suppliers offering slightly tweaked versions of last year's product. The actual problem went unsolved.
I co-founded Automadex to break that cycle. We do not show up to your facility with a pitch to rip out your infrastructure and spend millions replacing it. Instead, we focus on the specific bottleneck annoyances you cannot shake. We take the reliable hardware you already trust and find a way to pull the right data out of it. Solving those problems for companies large and small is our passion. Our customers' success is the only true measure of our own.
Getting complex system integrations over the hump
We are not here to replace standard Systems Integrators - we exist to elevate them. We frequently partner with world-class integration companies, like Cross Company, to tackle the hyper-specific technical challenges that prevent large-scale projects from crossing the finish line.
To ensure we are always bringing the best tools to the table, we maintain deep technical relationships with industry-leading hardware providers like Micro-Epsilon. This keeps us on the absolute cutting edge of measurement science and new technology. However, we are strictly hardware-agnostic. We don't force proprietary catalogs on your facility. We simply select the exact instruments and logic that solve the science of your problem.
When an integration stalls due to complex variables or the need for advanced custom software, SIs and manufacturers bring us in to bridge the gap. We are the specialized task force that steps in, solves the bottleneck, and gets the project delivering value.

Your first call. Your final fix.
We are here to partner with you to solve the biggest problems in your operation. In manufacturing, true engineering isn't a one-time transaction; it is a commitment to continuous improvement. We know that clearing one major bottleneck often gives you the data and visibility to finally see the next.
Our goal is to empower your facility, not anchor it. As your operation evolves, so do our solutions. Once your critical system is brought to a steady, high-performing state and the ROI is secured, we remain a dedicated resource for your team. Whether it’s optimizing what we’ve built or collaborating on the next major challenge on your floor, we are on your side of the table whenever you need us.
